The last Governor Democrat elected Governor of Minnesota was Rudy Peprich in 1986, right?

To answer Kalwejt's corrected question, the answer is yes.  Republican Arne Carlson defeated Peprich for reelection (51% to 47%) in 1990, even though Carlson was a late replacement nominee (although he had run in and lost the September primary) after the primary winner dropped out after being charged with sexual improprieties.  Carlson served two terms, followed by one for Reform > Independence Party member Jesse Ventura and two (assuming he serves out his second term) for Republican Tim Pawlenty, who is not running for reelection (although he could in Minnesota - are there any term limits for the Governor there?).
