Not really.  At this moment Parnell has more chance of being on the GOP 2012 ticket than Palin did before or after she resigned.

Parnell may be The One. I look forward to his time as Governor. I really think he could be a dark horse for 2012.

I agree with Phil, it's only depends on his future preformance.

Pleace do not discount possibility of dark horse, like Parnell, emerging.

If Parnell has the desire to do it, he can embody what it means to be a fresh face in 2012. Sure, he had a lot of people urging him to take on Young in 2008 but that still takes a lot. That being said, challenging Don Young and running for President aren't exactly on the same level.  Tongue

He also obviously has to be relatively successful as Governor, too.

Could you imagine if this guy became the nominee or at least had a real shot at it? And we all thought his successor was the only dark horse to break out of Alaska...

No, this actually is a stupid thread.  Palin was only a contender for 2012 because she was on the ticket last year.  If it hadn't been for that she'd not have had the name recognition or the fundraising ability to have even considered running in 2012.

Since Parnell will not be on a Presidential ticket before 2012, he will not be a viable contender in 2012 no matter what he does as Governor.  Its just too hard to run from Alaska without special circumstances.

If the people aren't satisfied with a field of "also ran in 2008" candidates, lesser known candidates like Parnell might be our only choice.

And sadly he might be an exellent sacrificial lamb, since I still contend it's possible the next GOP nominee will be one.

I hope Parnell will stay in office and hopefully prevent the Stevens and Murkowskis from taking back over Alaska.

His name is known, but he is not well known.  You can't seriously think Sean Parnell can raise the $250 million it will cost to challenge Romney in the primaries, do you?

But he doesn't need to be well known yet. Mike Huckabee wasn't all that well known in 2007.

If he can make himself the outsider choice, sure but he might not even need that much to challenge Romney. Romney proved in 2008 that throwing tons of money doesn't always mean victory.

To everyone else: yes I know this is not about Sarah Palin.

To Elvis Republican: Yeah I'd totally hit it too. I'd love to make Palin squeal, even if I despise her batty social conservative beliefs.

Yes, but even though a square is a rectangle inherently, we call them squares, in order to reveal a better description.
