Though McCarthy was not a Communist sympathiser (he was actually quite tough on Communism as a Senator) Nioxn would paint him as a far leftists like he did McGovern.

McCarthy was pretty far left.  The big problem is that in every election not held in MN people got Gene confused with Joe.  Even in 1992 in Louisiana according to the fairly new McCarthy bio out.

I voted McCarthy/Nixon... But only because I foolishly though  the poll was refering to Joseph McCarthy!

Knowing that it's Eugene McCarthy I'm undecided between Nixon and Wallace.
