The other Republican house speaker?

He would have problems winning his home state of Illinois (obviously, since Obama is the Democratic candidate).

Hastert is a follower, not a leader. I doubt he would even want the job. He looked miserable as Speaker, and his disillusionment with politics probably caused him to leave the House before the end of his last term, shafting his constituents by leaving them without a representative for several months.
