I will be announcing my choice for Vice-President before midnight, EST, tonight. I have it narrowed down to three individuals.

*Senator Nation takes the podium once again, as "I Want to Break Free" by Queen plays. The crowd is going crazy, as K. Nation motions his hand for the crowd to quiet down.*

My friends -- I know you've ALL been waiting for this moment here..

*more huge cheers come from the crowd full of "A Stronger Nation" signs*

I have come BACK up onto this stage -- to announce my choice for a runningmate.

Ladies and gentleman -- if he would so kindly accept, I would like to announce to you the next Vice-President of Atlasia --- JOHN D. FORD!

I must say, this is a tremendous surprise.  It is also a tremendous honor to have a Senator who has achieved so much give the highest possible measure of respect that someone in his position can give.  That aside, I regret to quote William Tecumseh Sherman.

If nominated, I will not accept.  If elected, I will not serve.

I am in the midst of important and critical work as Secretary of Defense and Security.  This is not something I wish to interrupt with a political campaign.  I have given my promise to the people to serve in this capacity to the best of my ability, and I should divide my time between the people's work and a campaign.  It would not be fair to the country, to the soldiers, or to the President to accept this gracious offer, as personally appealing as it may be.  The decisions and events of the coming days will be some of the most critical in Iraqi and Afghan history, and I am needed elsewhere.

Let no man or woman here be left with any illusions about my support for Senator Nation.  He will recieve my first preference vote in this election, and I would gladly accept the chance to continue as a member of the national security team if he is elected, either staying at the Defense Department or moving to the State Department.  I believe in what the Senator is doing with all my heart, and I urge my fellow citizens to join me in supporting his candidacy.

They say a good man can't get elected President anymore.  I don't believe that, because I've served two good men, Prsident's Kennedy and Lundgren.  I hope to serve President Nation in some capacity, but it won't be this one.  I don't believe that a good man can't be elected President, but the real question is do the people believe that?  My hope is that they don't, my hope is that they still believe in the goodness of Atlasia and of democracy, and that they will choose Senator Nation to lead this country and its democracy.

Damn, you would have made a great choice Ford.

I know, and it says a lot about Nation's judgement that he picked me (not to toot my own horn) but I just don't think I could take this spot and still do my job as SecDef.

Good for you Ford. (puts Nation back in #2 pref)

Once the Gustaf + JFK Administration ends: Ford for Senate or Ford for Governor!

I am sorry to hear it, Ford, but you are right -- your top priorities right now ARE with the current administration, and I guarantee that you will continue to serve in a Nation administration if I am elected.

Ladies and Gentleman, I was prepared for this -- fear not. John Ford is a fine man, but there is another from the state of California, who is also deserving of this position -- a man who has worked hard, not only for his constiuents, but also for the party, and for the nation ...

I would like to ask Governor Wildcard to be my runningmate for the Presidency.

*Wildcard comes out to address the audience*

My fellow Pacificans and Atlasians,

It is a rare honor to be considered for such an amazing position.

Sadly though I do not have the time to be Governor of the Pacific and to run for office. The citizens of Pacific elected me and I took an oath and promised to serve them. I will continue to do so as Governor.

I thank Senator Nation for his offer but my first duty is to the citizens who elected me and I never go back on my word.

However, I'd like for there to be no confusion, I voted for Senator Nation as a delegate and come election day he will be my first preference.

There is still a lot of work yet to be done in the Pacific and if my fellow Atlasians elect Senator Nation as President we will be on the right track.

Thank you all and God Bless Atlasia.

Can I recommend a Nation/Hughento fusion ticket? That would save some space on the ballot. Smiley

Hughento does have a running mate already...that said a Nation/Hughento or better still Hughento/Nation ticket sounds pretty good to me.

well, discussions are occuring, and whilst I'm more then happy with Don, my ears aren't shut off to the possibility of a Nation VP spot-but there won't be a Natrion/Hughento ticket, I think. Smiley
