Did Mitty really advocate that seriously?

Ugh....well.....At least I can hope he'd refrain from actually doing it once in office....BushOklahoma seems more threatening to me.

Ideologically, neither is any prize. Personally, I find both guys really delightful.  I don't understand all the Mitty hate or the BushOK hate.  (I guess I *do* understand hating Oklahoma! LOL)

But I would probably have to go with Walter, if a gun were put to my head and I couldn't write in Nym or Fritz or Smash or some other Democrat.

Yes, they are.

There are never two sane people on here at the same time, that would be too much of a coincidence.

Eh, JSojourner has similar emotions to mine and has put them more nicely than I would already, so I'll just go with a mumbled "what he said".

i certainly advocate a regime change in syria.

im not so sure that would require a military invasion, though.

the NRA would absolute shred Mitty and he might not win a single state.

BuskOK is liberal enough to retain the Democratic states and appealing enough to the South to win a landslide, even if Mitty does put a few states across.

I'm too lazy for percentages, but this is the best Mitty could hope for:

It's too bad, since he definitely doesn't deserve to lose like this.

I'll take BushOklahoma's occasional religious nuttery and Moderate Heroism over Walter's all around nuttery and contrarian version of Moderate Heroism which might be even more annoying.

Mitty/BushOK landslide

Map:

Utah and Massachusetts voting similarly.  When was the last time that happened?  Well, it would happen in this case.  Feel free to ask for reasoning.

Why do you have MA going for mitty over VT, NH, and ME?  MA is more populist than you think and very machine Democratic.  VT and NH I see more of a independent streak and mitty's politics fit there MUCH better than BushOK.

I'd vote for Mitty, but the results of such a race are almost impossible to predict. To what degree does ideology trump partisanship? Complicating things further, of course, is that both adhere to what I'd call "idiosyncratic" belief systems. That said, here's my attempt:

Walter wins 477-61, with very low turnout and a lot of third-party voting. BushOkie wins much of the South, with support from blacks and working-class whites; he also carries DC because he's a Democrat, albeit with a much smaller margin than any Democrat has managed before. His "family values" platform doesn't even give him a victory in Utah (or Idaho), because iirc he believes that Mormons are not Christians.

You people are forgetting Mitty's hardline anti-gun position. That alone would cost him the whole interior west and south at least.

This map looks a lot cooler than it should (probably because of the Oregon - Nevada - Arizona corridor) but like BRTD said a hardline anti-gun position will bone Mitty in the Interior West (and maybe New Hampshire + Maine? How are they on gun control?).

That being said I voted for BushOK in this poll just in principle against someone creating a matchup with themselves in it.
