I won't.  Not only am I not interested in the slightest bit, I would really rather not experience the embarrassment of being in the same group as Trekkies.
why must you be such an elitist?

not a Trekkie, but I'll definitely see it sometime. Star Trek II and IV are two of the greatest movies ever made and First Contact wasn't bad at all either. And JJ Abrams is awesome.

I saw it last night.  Any of you in the US see it yet?  I guess the first Thursday night preview shows there would have ended by now.

I saw it too, it was quite good. People of all stripes were there and routinely cheered and applauded throughout the film. It's a little sad now that everything is irrelevant, that all the movies and series are not in canon now, but I'm.. optimistic.

And by the way, my favorite new cast member is Chekov by a mile. Tongue

I don't know.  For favorite new cast member, I think I might go with Scotty's midget sidekick.   Wink

The Mrs. took the day off to run some errands with me and we saw this after lunch.  A really good shoot-em-up, action flick.  Of course, I don't get what all the Trekkies were arguing about (they all seemed to love it, but were talking about this plot line and that) but it was just good, clean, fun entertainment.

The doctor guy seemed to have "Bones" down pat.

Also saw it today. Great movie. Sod 'canon', it should be about character Smiley Scotty's accent was actually pretty good and Quinto as Spock was the stand out performance for me.

I think people sometimes are actively trying to make me dislike the film. Tongue

No, I am just trying to re-assure people that, while I like ST, I do not speak Klingon, wear Spock ears or have Captain Kirk jammies...  ;-)

Creepy is creepy -- whether it's Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

I just got back from it. I've never seen Star Trek per say, so I was confused throughout most of it. I will say the action was solid among other things. If I knew what was going on, I'd probably enjoy it quite a bit.

Dude, there really wasn't anything too perplexing in it. What were you confused about?

The dinosaur thing in the blizzard really threw me off. I was sort of lost when they started moving back and forth through time, but I eventually caught on.

I saw it last night, and thought it by far the best ST movie with the possible exception of VI. They captured the characters well, integrated Nimoy effectively, and I have to give major props on the script.

The time travel thing I thought made sense when you realize that neither Nero nor Spock intended to travel through time, and that if you had made the decision to reboot the franchise, this was a fairly consistent way to do it.
