Funny enough, tonight's episode of the Amazing Race took place in Bangkok and included trannies in a karaoke van.

Pro-Thaksin protesters don't like the new Prime Minister so they've been in the streets for several days and most importantly forced a cancellation of an ASEAN summit. Abhisit declared a state of emergency and just in the past day the Thai military fired on protesters in Bangkok wounding 70.

I should clarify also, when I say "forced a cancellation", I mean broke into the resort where the leaders were meeting and forced them to be evacuated. Big big deal.

I think it's pretty clear what opebo would think of these protestors then...

Well in a way, but now I'm in a state of fear that I might be trapped in the Bad Place.  If the airport closes for example.

But I always leave Thailand in April anyway because of Songkran, not because of these little riots.

It just gets stranger: Nicaragua has given Thaksin a Diplomatic Passport.

No, and particularly I don't like public disruptions.  Better to have strangers pretend you're not there than to douse you with water.
