I think it's funny that the American system is so ridiculous that it needs to find cheap drugs in Canada in the first place.

A word of caution though:  inventing new drugs is incredibly expensive and require enormous investments that need to be recouped in order to make new medicine possible.  As many of you know, for example, American car companies don't have a comparative advantage internationally, a significant cause of their decline.  In contrast, our pharmaceutical industry is one of our biggest export sectors  by a significant margin ( meaning jobs and jobs).

Voted neutral, I just find the premise behind this issue silly.

I guess that folks don't want it because they're anarchists/drug company lobbyists.

Remember that many drugs are simply a previous drug with minor changes to the chemical compounds creating a drug with the same effectiveness that can be marketed as a brand new drug at full profit.

I say yes, though it shouldn't be necessary as prescriptions should be available from the state for a nominal fee.

Are these drugs made in Canada?  Or are they made in the US and sold to Canadians cheaply under some kind of contract that Americans are wanting to buy at a cheaper rate than Americans normally get these drugs?

If it's the first one I don't see the problem.  If it's the second one, there is a problem.

I used to be against this and still have some concerns (FDA approval) but I now think that the government should allow it so I'll vote Lean Yes.

Why on earth should the government "aid" aka "subsidize" the importation of drugs from Canada?  But of course, such importation should be made legal; it still isn't as far as I know.

The real fix however is the "Torie Plan;"  drug companies would be prohibited from price discriminating against US consumers.

Allow? Yes, of course. Aid? I don't know. This question is really strangely worded.

Why? Do you really think Canada's standards are much laxer than our's? I mean I could understand the safety argument if it was Mexico but seriously.

I worded it that way since most people would immediately agree with allowing it. Wording it this way makes them think more about the question.

Yeah, that's another reason I only voted "Lean Yes." What the hell does "aid" mean in this case?

Can't be too sure.
