I thought we had some Black votes, but no one said so in the poll.

What gets me about this forum is that some people post on the assumption that there can't possibly be any Black people here, which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy if it ever had any chance to change. (No, Phil, I'm not thinking about you right now.) I've seen this dynamic applied to gays quite often--people discussing gay marriage who suddenly change what they're saying and retreat from the most ridiculous, dehumanizing rhetoric when a married gay delurks, because they felt that the forum was "normal" and therefore everyone was like them. But this site is gayer than Fire Island on Memorial Day, so that dynamic doesn't obtain.

The bolded statement makes me positive you're gay. Or you're like me and just know a lot of gay guys. I didn't think that those kind of self-filtering things happened over the internet though, because of the anonymity and depersonalization.

Plus, it is really only a handful of people who are intolerant and racist. The rest of us would, in all likelihood, love to have some non-white perspective.

Its amusing that the Forum is less diverse than... the Republican Party.

I am a little surprised that there are 3 South Asians but only one East/Southeast Asian. Perhaps they haven't found this thread yet.

I don't believe in "race". It's a little hard to when you learn that you either keep your beard trimmed back to a certain length or have people freaking out about tehevilmussylimterroarisst on the train with them...

But I stick "white-british" on forms when that issue crops up as it's generally the only halfway accurate option.

I found out I had a distant ancestor who was like Great Great Grandfather. I don't hate Jew just the ones who are obsessed with money and Israel. There are many who are middle class and could care less about Israel so I have nothing against then. My ancestor was came to San Francisco from Germany around the time of the Gold Rush.

You want to call out individuals who you believe are treated in an unfair way, go for it. But the threads you post here are inexcusable and gross deviations from the truth. You lie and smear to spread your propaganda without any regard for fact. Please don't try to justify what you say as "limited in scope" to certain people or certain beliefs. You call out entire groups on baseless accusations. It is detestable.

And to set the record straight, just because some Jews can be wealthy doesn't mean they are obsessed with money. Due to a long history of oppression we tend to be saving-prone and look for ways to conserve money, weary of losing it to Nazi fascists again. Nor are most Jews Israel-obsessed. More are simply concerned with the well-being of other Jews, many of whom live in Israel.
