I've been looking at the declared and prospective candidates for Governor of California, and none of them are conservative. Who do you think the most electable conservative is for Governor? I like Duncan Hunter, but I think he's too unknown. Tom McClintock came in third in the recall, but he's just been elected to Congress and probably doesn't want to change positions just yet.

Meg Whitman is so far running almost as conservative as you can in statewide California. She's the only real possibility just by virtue of being loaded.

lol @ Duncan Hunter

Meg Whitman is the only true "conservative" that can win. I like Poizner but seems too Schwarzennegger-esque. For now though, my money's on Meg.

EDIT:

That last part sounded kinda wrong.... Didn't It?

Nobody can win statewide in California without being socially liberal. McClintock could make it close, but now that he's finally won a race, he might want to keep that seat for a bit.

Meg Whitman is a true enemy of the American worker. Campbell probably isn't batsh**t crazy enough to win the primary.

Have you seen the Democratic selection for candidates for replacing outgoing governor Brad Henry (D)?  Not a true liberal among them!

Yeah, DeVore is running for the Senate, though.

To the OP, would you take "more conservative than the Democrat?"  That would be a lot more realistic.

Is there anyone else that keeps mixing up the CA-GOV and CA-SEN races, especially Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina?

Sorry, my mistake.
