That should be enough to kill a candidacy.

I'd pay money to see Chris Christie in a situation like that.

In all fairness, I think it takes a lot of balls for Romney to stand firm like that. While the man's condition is unfortunate, it's pretty obvious he showed up to purposely put Romney between a rock and a hard place.

It's not like being against medical marijuana is the worst position in the world. It's pretty easy to get perscriptions for marijuana at places like Venice Beach, say. People take advantage of the system.

Yeah, seriously.  Christie'd probably come right out with it.

Romney could have just answered the question directly, though.  It's more honest and straightforward.

Yeah, that's a weakness of Romney's that I'm not too fond of. I wish he'd just come out and say what he believes.

Mitt Romney was born great, but it all went downhill from there

^^^^^

To be fair I think an argument can be made that this is true of many or even most people.

He tried to skirt the issue by presenting a face-saving answer... he got asked a complicated follow on question... aaaaaand he ran away.

I suppose its more honest than Obama's position on the issue (who said STATES RIGHTS, and then proceeded to arrest people in states that Medical Marijuana is legal), but never the less, the way he reacted in that interview was exactly the way i expected him to respond: pussyfooting, which is even worse than just being straight up about it.
