Wow, and here most were thinking he would run for President again in 2012.

It is more likely he would use a senate run in 2010 to propel him to a 2012 presidential run. However, assuming he won, he would be a senator until 2016, so if he thought that there was no way he could win the White House in 2012, he would still be relevant for 2016.

Good point, but if he loses then it will hurt his Presidential run.

LOL

Oh, I'd love it. It would be the end of his political career.

That could very well happen. There is fairly large a risk, but Reid is fairly weak, and the upside for Romney are much larger than the downside. He has little to no future unless he can become relevant by winning again, and the right would love him if he could take down Harry Reid.

If he runs for president in 2012 and loses, he is done. If he can win the senate seat,  then even if he doesn't win in 2012, he can run in 2016, or he could try to make a career in the senate.

A carpetbagger is going to beat the Senate Majority leader? Listen, we all know that Reid has low ratings even in Nevada but he's such a political force out there. He brings home the bacon. If he's going to be beaten, he needs to be beaten by one of their own. I can just imagine the field day Reid would have with this.

Valid point. I'd personally like to see some polling on this.

It'll be hard to run for NV Senator and CA Governor at the same time...

I don't know if there'd be anything illegal about that, although I'd need to find out about the residency stuff to say for sure.  Biden ran for VP and reelection in the Senate.

Unless the primaries are really far apart, I'm almost sure it'd be impossible. But hopefully not...

I've been wondering if Romney would begin shopping around for a more friendly Western state he could get elected in...

Why not Colorado? Romney could bring out the Mormon vote, tipping the state to the Republicans. Also, it borders Utah.

Colorado is only about 2% Mormon, compared to Nevada's 11%.

My failure at sarcasm. These particular myths about Colorado were beaten to death last year--the idea that there is some latent Mormon political force in the state that only a Mormon candidate can arouse, and that bordering Utah makes a difference.

This would be awful.  Two of my least favorite politicians, running against each other.
