Just a heads up: the byelection triggered by the resignation of the PC MPP (who stelled aside for Tory to run in it) will he held this Thursday.

It will be rip-roaringly funny if he loses.

Pity it's an ultra-safe seat. (56.0% PC, closest second was 20.4% for the Libs).

That's federally. Provincially, it was PC 49.9 and Liberal 29.5.

On a side note, I recall reading about some anger in the local PC about Tory carpetbagging from Toronto to here and one person flirted with running for a outfit called the Reform Party (but apparently isn't running). Probably doesn't mean anything.

EDIT: Poll.

Oh man, John Tory = Fail.
(Also, Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock = Fail. Of course ruralitude is more important than one's actual political views!)

Oh, wow. Ontario PCs = Fail.

Bonus for Greens ahead of the NDP. Now, let's have Bill Murdoch resign and see John Tory defeated by the Greens in BGOS.

Bill Murdoch's been sitting as an independent for a while now after calling for Tory's resignation.

That's right, I'd forgotten about that. More's the pity.

Tory has resigned, though he's staying until the Progressive Failers find a new leader.

I hope the new leader will speak Frenish like his illustrious predecessor.

On a side note, is this the first time since York East in 1986 that the governing party has picked up a seat in a by-election?
