If all the anti-Republicans keep voting for Sarah Palin, won't it kind of defeat the purpose of having such a poll?

I'm hoping people won't do that.  I plan to vote in the poll for Huntsman.

Huntsman or Crist, if I had to vote but I'm not a Republican. I want somebody tolerable as the next GOP presidential nominee, just in case he wins. Needless to say my emphasis on he, obviously, rules out Saintly Sarah

Charlie Crist

1. Will be a favorite son from FLORIDA, a state that has 27 electoral votes (more in 2012) that Obama won barely. He will win one state that Huckabee, Palin, and Romney are likely to lose.

2. Is no extremist. That could help in some of the states that barely went for Obama (NC, OH, VA, IN, CO) and a couple that the Republicans absolutely must hold onto (AZ, MO).

3. Isn't particularly Southern, and doesn't carry the usual baggage for a southern Republican in northern States.

4. Is a Methodist -- not a member of a fundamentalist or evangelical sect. That's as middle-of-the-road religion as one can find in America.

5. Unlike the last Greek-American presidential nominee, he doesn't look like someone whom Central Casting would approve of for a gangster movie -- as a gangster.

6. Stops the death spiral of the GOP.

7. No ties to George W. Bush.

8. Even if he loses to Obama (should everything go right for Obama between now and November 2012), he will be in a good position to win in 2016 against a successor to Obama who is not so charismatic or has far-lesser political skills, especially in the aftermath of a knock-down drag-out primary contest or a brokered convention. He will be only 60 in 2016, which is far from past-prime.

No idea, but I can easily rule out a few - Huntsman, Crist, and Gingrich, unless he proves himself to be more electable.

Crist would be a Great Candidate from a big swing state and a moderate. But I don't think he'[ll make it past the primary.

I say i'd vote for....

Sanford
Gingrich
Romney
Maybe Huntsman

I would obviously vote for "Other" because I'm not a republican, but out of these characters, I would go with Crist.

Barack Obama. Hopefully the GOP puts country before party and endorses him in 2012 as well.
