Not true. We'd simply see the coasts leaving to form their own units and expelling those they see as being to blame for this(blacks, devout/conservative protestants, jews). Sure, the rump US would be embroiled in a bloody civil war but it'd be good times for us on the coast. A massive labor shortage, no more religious right influence, crime down by 90%.
