It will be Romney or Huckabee. The GOP doesn't like to break with tradition. We've hardly ever gone out on a limb like Kyl.

He'd be excellent but, like McCain said, Kyl would be shocked to even hear it mentioned.

As I said before, we're not going with another old guy from Arizona again.  Tongue

I saw that story but didn't post it when it happened because it's a stupid stupid story because Politico can be really really stupid sometimes. Smiley

McCain was simply saying a case where he would prioritize someone else over Palin.

Kyl wants to be McConnell's successor

Septuagenarian of Arizona 2012, We Can't Lose Twice!

Seriously though, like Lunar said, it was just McCain giving an example of someone he would probably support over Palin.

I think Kyl would make a good President.  He's one of the few GOP Senators I actually like.  But, yeah...I'll co-sign to every other post in this thread.

Sorry, I meant when Goldwater ran and lost 40 years ago, McCain was your second loss from Arizona.

McCain was simply saying a case where he would prioritize someone else over Palin.

Right.  The question was "Will you support Palin for prez in 2012?".  If McCain says no, and leaves it at that, the obvious followup question would be "Well, you thought she was the best person for VP just a few months ago, so why not prez?", which can be easily countered by "Well, if someone from my home state runs, I might feel an obligation to support them."  The only semi-plausible name to mention from Arizona would by Kyl, so that's why McCain floated the name.

Basically, it was just McCain's attempt at having an "out" for why he won't endorse Palin for president.  Nothing more than that.

No chance Kyl runs.  He doesn't want to give up his Senate seat; he wants to be a power in the Senate.

Of course, people said the same thing about Rahm regarding his House leadership position.
