I remember hearing some other story about Reagan having to cancel the trip. Whatever the case, it would have still been close.

And even the Great Saint Reagan never won Coleman's state. The GOP need not win MN to win nationally.

Gee, could that have been because he didn't campaign there on purpose?  Reagan didn't make a play for Minnesota because he didn't want to embarrass Mondale.  Had he even gone there once in 84 just to take a crap, he probably would have won it.
