Coleman lost to a wrestler and a comedian and only squeaked by statewide once when his opponent died.

Coleman is a joke.  He's an even bigger joke than Jindal.

I never was dismissive of him. I simply despise him and his policies.

And even the Great Saint Reagan never won Coleman's state. The GOP need not win MN to win nationally.

Jindal is ridiculous but he still isn't tainted in the way that Coleman is. Talk about an embarrassing Win-Loss record.

Jindal is a threat, guys. He can talk like a moderate yet (obviously) govern as a conservative. He can transcend the 'regional' label unlike Huckabee. And he can probably win New Hampshire and enough of the big states such as NY, CA, and IL to secure the nomination despite his skin color and Catholicism being obvious liabilities amongst GOP voters in the south.

Overall, Coleman, though I think Jindal might have a better chance of actually winning, assuming the environment was good for the GOP. He'd have a much better chance of getting massively landslided also, though.

A Jindal campaign, while unsuccessful, would be considered serious and respected. A Coleman campaign would be unsuccessful and a joke.

It might be fun to see Jinal run, only to see if the base is hypocritical or cruel to non-whites.

Listen, this really does go both ways.

The fact of the matter is that it was looking like Wellstone would beat Coleman anyway and then if you add in the sympathy vote, Coleman should have lost. Not to mention that his new opponent wasn't just a guy who hadn't won a thing in close to three decades but also a Minnesota legend. Of course, we Republicans can all thank Tom Harkin for helping us pick up the seat.

If you can't beat a comedian, you defiantly can't beat a popular, incumbment president...

Piyush. He is young, and could provide much needed energy to the Republican party, and hopefully will attract young voters, which will be helpful in future elections. If Obama is popular, I would put Jindal up. Conservatives will be happy, and he will help us look towards the future, even if he loses. If Obama is really struggling, like Carter did, Romney or Guiliani would be better picks.

A Minnesota legend that just barely carried the state against an elderly conservative from California.
