The last major thing he did, when he diverted the funds from TARP to the auto bailout after the Republicans in Congress basically told millions of workers to fuck off.

Bush actually did more good in his lame duck period than he did all of the entirety of the rest of his presidency.

1) Ducking the shoe
2) Using TARP funds for the auto bailout
3) Being pretty responsible with his pardons

Yes, everything he did that I approve of happened in his last two months in office.

A number of things...

1) His handling of 9/11 and his invasion of Afghanistan within a week after 9/11/2001. (He kinda forgot about that, though)
2) The initial invasion of Iraq to tear down the Saddam Hussein that, despite what liberals thought, was not going to give up through diplomacy.  There were WMD's, namely Saddam and his officials in human form. (The handling of the war was a mistake, not the initial invasion)
3) He kept us safe for nearly 7 1/2 years after 9/11 until the current
4) Veto of SCHIP
5) Peaceful and cooperative transition to President Obama
6) Responsible with his pardons and NOT pardoning Scooter Libby despite Cheney's griping.
7) Leaving Washington, DC for Midland, Texas.

Some aspects of tax cuts (creation of a new 10% rate, doubling of per child credit).
Roberts and Alito.
Resisting pressure of neo-cons (not sure how strong it was though) to invade other countries such as Syria or Iran.

There's more than a week between Sept. 11 and Oct. 7.

My bad.  Still not very long, though, within a month.  For some reason, I was thinking September 18, I don't know why.

The one I will always like the most is the Do Not Call List (I am serious). President Bush had many other fine decisons, but unlike most of them, this one actuallt effects my quality of life. No more telemarketers interupting my preparation of dinner, and for that I will always be thankful for President Bush. Smiley

Typical Liberal/Populist ploy hide behind the children. I have no problem with SCHIP as a program. My problem was with that horrendous extention that would have covered not only Illegals with SCHIP but b/c of the wording would have lowered standards to qualify for Medicaid and thus open it up as well to illegals. It would have expanded the program to cover adults and put private insurance at a disadvantage to public programs. If you want to cover adults then they should have brought up a National Health care bill and put it as part of that which I would have considered supporting more than this backdoor attempt at National Health Care. Finally it used a budgetary gimmick that would have left the program unfounded in 2014. Funding would have rose each year up until 2014 then drop by sometihng like 2/3's. You tell me how thats suppose to work.
