Biggest airstrikes since 1967.

Could this be the lead up to a full invasion?

More than likely this is the left in Israel trying to keep power in the face of the upcoming elections, where I'm pretty much confident Netanyahu's coalition will take power otherwise.  May work, may not work, we'll see.

Something like this should have been done months ago, however.

Horrible and we should impose full sanctions on Tel Aviv.

For defending itself against constant Palestinian attacks?

It's Palestinian land. What they're doing is as morally just as removing illegal aliens or attacking intruders into your home as is your right under the castle doctrine.

None of the things listed above are moral though. Tongue

I think all of those things are perfectly moral and acceptable.

I hope so, but I doubt it.

Except what they're doing is launching rockets into Israeli territory.

Not much point. Palestinians will probably resume their rocket attacks. If not immediately, then in a few weeks/months.

Nothing that any of the parties in the Middle East does really matters in the end (except that people die, of course).

Pray tell. Israel has respected the ceasefire with Hamas. As usual, however, the Palestinians have completely ignored the agreement. What could possibly justify Palestinian attacks against Israeli civilians?

It's time Israel eliminates Hamas completely.  At least Bibi won't back down.

This is one of the oddest conflicts. Usually the stronger power would just wipe out their opposition completely and start from scratch (see: Manifest Destiny). This model clearly isn't working out too well.

Indeed. Anyway, Israel dismantled its settlements in Gaza in 2005.

No no no, clearly none of this would happen if the Jews would all just die...or, if failing that, at least just all move somewhere else.  The Pali's are a peaceful people and would get along with their neighbors just fine if those god danged Jews would just cease to exist.

We're really going to miss Xahar during these aren't we?

Why do these attacks remind me of something? Ah yes:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Hot_Winter
Didn't work very well though. Considering Hamas' tactics, probably only a complete occupation could stop the rocket attacks, in other words a return to the situation before 2005. That it has come to this is largely the responsibility of Hamas, but Israel's decision to treat the entire Gaza strip as a terrorist territory certainly haven't helped. And if they continue with their tactics of collective punishment, then peace will be very, very far away.

It's very easy to make strawman attacks on people who can't defend themselves, isn't it?

I wasn't implying that my sarcastic paragraph is something Xahar would write.  At least that wasn't my intention.  He clearly isn't the only one here that thinks the Jews should leave the Middle East.

I doubt that there are many actually.
What Xahar said was that Israel should never have been created in the first place, which is quite reasonable.
