A Polarised Nation?
Drama, but all incumbents re-elected

Senate

Results by Party

Social Democratic Party, Left, 42.1% (+16.7), 2 seats (+1)
Regional Protection Party, Hard Right, 33.3% (+16.7), 2 seats (+1)
Jesus Christ Party, Centre, 14.0% (+0.4), 1 seat
Democratic Alliance, Centre-Right, 10.5%, 0 seats
National Liberal Coalition 0 seats (-1)
Independents 0 seats (-1)

Note 1. this election seems to mark the final demise of the NLC. The party was unable to recover from it's huge losses in August and has, organisationally at least, ceased to exist. It seems as though the next party on the centre-right will be the DA.

Note 2. Red Flag believes that the answer to the question in the headline is "to an extent yes, but, basically, no". The reasons for this will be clear when we publish our analysis of the results.

Note 3. An Independent elected last time and one NLC Senator had both defected to the HTUPHWEP. Neither were candidates in this election.

First Preferences by Candidate

A.Sibboleth*, SDP, 21.0% (+7.4) Elected
DWTL*, RPP, 15.8% (+0.7%) Elected
SPC, RPP, 15.8% Elected
Lief, SDP, 14.0% Elected
B.King*, JCP, 14.0% Elected
Franzl, DA, 10.5%
Xahar, SDP, 7.0% (-5.1)
G.Porter, RPP, 1.7%

Order of the Fourth and Final Round

1. A.Sibboleth, SDP
2. Lief, SDP
3. B.King, JCP
4. DWDL, RPP
5. SPC, RPP
--------------------------
6. Franzl, DA

Franzl trailed SPC by one and a half votes

Composition of the New Senate

Social Democratic Party: 3 (+1)
Regional Protection Party: 3 (+1)
Jesus Christ Party: 1
Democratic Alliance: 1
National Liberal Coalition: 1
Independents: 1
Horse takes up painting, has works exhibited Party: 0 (-2)

Changes are from the outgoing Senate

Note that, yet again, all Senate results are provisional due to an active and ongoing investigation into possible electoral fraud

The Midwest election was for our equivalent of the Lieutenant Governor, not the Governor Smiley
