We can all agree it's pointless.  What do you think Putin was thinking when he agreed to this?  "We've got money to burn, might as well burn it defending the Lebanonese"

It's a fairly meaningless gesture to hopefully prevent Lebanon from moving too close to the West.

Lebanon is one of the countries I'd trust least with those. Not because of anything Lebanon does, but because of its neighbors.

Syria already has MiG-29s anyway, so that's not an issue.

Has Lebanon got any experience of Mikoyan or Sukhoi products? (That's not knocking their quality, by the way).
