I know this is not a gubernatorial election, not sure where it goes, however

In the New York City Mayoral election Nov 3, 2009, the main candidates are

Incumbent Mayor Mike Bloomberg, running as an independent.

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, running as a Republican.

Both candidates can run again, as city council has passed legislation alllowing more than two terms, as you are aware.

What happens in this election between Bloomberg and Giuliani?

Please discuss.

Nothing happens because the race won't happen.  Tongue  I recently found out that Rudy backed the idea of Bloomberg running again.

Nevertheless, the question remains, what happens in this contest?

There isn't any doubt about it. Even if 9/11: Part 2 happened, I'd put Bloomberg down as the favorite.

Rudy is a Bloomberg supporter.  Plus, there's no way he would win.  Almost everyone who loved Rudy, loves Bloomberg even more.

Not going to happen.  If it would happen, Rudy wins Staten Island, gets blown out everywhere else.
