I loved Lexington - pretty peaceful and quiet.

Minneapolis is cool - but I'd take Lexington.

Walter this is probably the silliest question you asked......lol.

Take away BRTD's presence and it's still not close.

Lexington looks like suburban hell. Ouch. It's really rich and expensive!

I'll vote for where I am.

2008 cost of living index in Lexington: 137.9 (high, U.S. average is 100)

2008 cost of living index in Minneapolis: 101.9 (near average, U.S. average is 100)

Enough said.

There's nothing hellish about it. It has a cute and historic town center and grew organically over the years, like so many Boston suburbs. The city is not too far away and Arlington and Cambridge are destinations in their own right in-between. Yes, it is rich, and very expensive. You also have some moderate suburban houses on sizable tracts (half-acre) being torn down for Taj Mahals in some neighborhoods.

Can I get into downtown Boston easily from Lexington? Because I'd rather live in Massachusetts than Minnesota, but I don't want to live in some random boring suburb.

Not "easily," no. It's not far as the crow flies but the roads are not helpful and you're fighting other commuters.

Yeah - I remember driving in from Boston then back to Needham.... and I remember the drive was a a little long plus the pike and the nausea inducing on/off ramps.

But it was so nice and quiet, plus the history side seals the deal for me.

That's where I stayed when I went to Boston.
