Honestly - I cannot work it out.

I wouldn't have wanted to vote for Royal or Sarkozy in the run-off.

Who would you have voted for in the first turn?

Well... not sure... maybe Bayrou - since I'm really not left enough for Royal - but not quite right economically enough for Sarkozy.

You would probably be with MoDem in that case.

I thought that was the most likely.

It's fascist. Strictly speaking though, it's really the only French party for someone with a social PM score of +9.

But it doesn't match my economic score if it is fascist. (I took a few European Political Test, I get Classical Socialist and Traditional Communist a lot.)

What can I say? You're far to the right of most people in France socially. I guess you could forget about social issues & just join one of the left-wing parties.

The FN is not (at all) a right-wing party on economic issues. They're economic nationalists, which is sometimes construed as a left-wing view (and can be, depending on the context) but really fits kind of quirkily in this case into social conservatism.

Anyway, MoDem, although the PRG might tempt me from time to time (although their alliance with the Socialists has made them basically non-existent). NC is not entirely out of the question except that they all sold their souls for political power.

I was speaking to a French supporter on facebook and he said there are two factions a Economic Conservative Faction that is sympathetic to American Rights on fighting "Islamo Fascism" and a more Populist Faction that is focused more of International Zionism and less on Radical Islam.

PCF. What is this PG? It sounds fun, as does the PMF.

The PG is Melenchon's new Die Linke-like party, as I wrote.

Marc Dolez now sits in the Commie GDR group, though I think Melenchon is still in the SOC group in the Senate. Apparently they're getting close to the PCF, but wants to take up the political space between the PS and PCF.

Melenchon is also a "technical member" (apparenté) of the communist (and MRC) group in the Senate.

My answer is obvious if you see what I mean: UMP.

BTW, in your poll, on the left-right axis, LCR (now NPA, nouveau parti anti-capitaliste) would be less on the far left than LO and POI.

And between POI and LO, I would have said, only 5 years ago, that POI is more on the left than LO. But I think it's no more the case. Not much evidence to back my viewpoint, but their latest presidential campaign was more "global", more rural, more "unionized".

As for the internal organization, LO is a pure Trotskyite sect, the POI is messier.
