Inspired by Hashemite's election series. Anyway, I tried to get as many as I could, but that along with arranging them from right-wing to left-wing was far too difficult for someone with as cursory a knowledge of French politics as me.

     Anyway, UMP for me.

I have no clue...there's no good fit.  I can do Britain and, to a lesser extent, Germany, pretty well, but...

I might be on the right wing of PS, or maybe in MoDem.

It's fascist. Strictly speaking though, it's really the only French party for someone with a social PM score of +9.

But it doesn't match my economic score if it is fascist. (I took a few European Political Test, I get Classical Socialist and Traditional Communist a lot.)

What can I say? You're far to the right of most people in France socially. I guess you could forget about social issues & just join one of the left-wing parties.

The FN is not (at all) a right-wing party on economic issues. They're economic nationalists, which is sometimes construed as a left-wing view (and can be, depending on the context) but really fits kind of quirkily in this case into social conservatism.

Anyway, MoDem, although the PRG might tempt me from time to time (although their alliance with the Socialists has made them basically non-existent). NC is not entirely out of the question except that they all sold their souls for political power.

Darn it, I was trying to get someone to vote for one of the Trotskyist parties. Tongue

New Centre and Gauche Moderne.

I would've been UDF until 2002.

For those who'd need help:

Front national (FN)Sad Not really a European fascist-type party (Megret's MNR is more fascist in that's it's/was elitist, European) but more of a Poujadist-French Algeria type party. As Verily said, left-wing economic nationalism and social conservatism.
Mouvement pour la France (MPF)Sad Christian right, social conservative, and Euroscepticism. One-man party, mostly, based in only one region mostly. Mixes Islamophobia in there, too sometimes.
Union pour un mouvement populaire (UMP)Sad Amalgamation of the historical political traditions of radicalism (which does not mean US far-right radicalism), Christian democracy, liberal conservatism, Gaullism, and a few random elements of social conservatism (Boutin), classical liberalism/libertarianism (Longuet, Madelin), eurosceptic libertarians (Kaci), and centrist ecologists (Kosciusko-Morizet).
Chasse, pêche, nature, traditions (CPNT)Sad Eurosceptic and conservative one-issue party. Pro-hunting/fishing.
Nouveau centre (NC)Sad The more right-wing thingee issued of the demise of the UDF. Could be classified as liberal.
Mouvement démocrate (MoDem)Sad lulz. Centrism that is more and more distanced from its traditional moderate right-wing roots into a centre to centre-left opposition party. More of a personal machine for Bayrou in 2012, by the looks of it. Has already split up into tiny splinters.
Parti socialiste (PS)Sad As of today, a joke party. European social democratic party that still has a hard time with the idea of capitalism and still scared to death of liberalism (in the European sense of the term). Many currents has one could see looking at the news these day. A strong Eurosceptic branch, a strong staunchly left-wing branch.
Les Verts (Greens)Sad Hippies and very left-wing. They took a sharp turn to the left in 1993, going from non-political centrist ecology to PS-affiliated politicized left-wing ecology. Strong eurosceptic current. Lots of power struggles, too.
Parti communiste français (PCF)Sad Used to dominate the left-wing of the political spectrum, but went from 28ish percent in the '50's to 1.93% in 2007. Still relatively "unreformed" communism.
Lutte ouvrière (LO)Sad Trots. Arlette Laguiller's one-person party, mostly.
Parti ouvrier indépendant (POI)Sad Trots that don't like to be called Trots. Secular, staunchly anti-European (with an obsession over the word "Maastricht"), anti-Fifth Republic. Also runs in elections under a banner of "municipal rights" and "communal rights". Ran a alcoholic for President in 2007. Good days! Cheesy
Ligue communiste révolutionnaire (LCR)Sad Trots. The bigger of the two Trot parties nowadays and Besancenot's party.

Others of note:

Parti Radical de Gauche (PRG)Sad Centre-left party from the historical RadSoc tradition. Secular and socially liberal. Generally pro-European, but has a small Eurosceptic faction (Zuccarelli). Very close to the PS.
Parti de Gauche (PG)Sad New party that split from the PS. Composed of Melenchon and Marc Dolez. Wants to be the French Die Linke. See them for info.
Gauche Moderne (GM)Sad Social liberal centre-left party formed by former Socialist Jean-Marie Bockel. Part of the presidential majority.
Mouvement Républicain et Citoyen (MRC)Sad Wanted to be the left-wing tradition Gaullist party. Eurosceptic.
Alternative Libérale (AL)Sad Small classical liberal party that is run in a very authoritarian fashion. Already had a power struggle and a even smaller party (Liberal Democratic Party) came out of it. Makes me laugh.
Alliance royale (AR)Sad Monarchist, conservative, and eurosceptic
Mouvement national républicain (MNR)Sad Could be considered the true fascists, as explained above. European and elitist. Less of a Poujadist thing to it. Status unknown since Megret quit politics. The MNR was Megret's one-man party.
Parti des musulmans de France (PMF)Sad Scary Islamists. If only they ran in Vendee, then the fun would begin.
Rassemblement des contribuables français (RCF)Sad Anti-tax and Poujadist joke.
France en action (FEA)Sad Weird sectarian movement.
Solidarité et Progrès: LaRouchites.
Mouvement écologiste indépendant (MEI)Sad Founded in 1994 by former Green leader (a centrist), Antoine Waechter. Failed to get off the ground and supported Bayrou in 2007.

PCF. What is this PG? It sounds fun, as does the PMF.

I suspect that I wouldn't be a member of any of them (though might have joined the PS just to vote against Royal).

The PG is Melenchon's new Die Linke-like party, as I wrote.

Marc Dolez now sits in the Commie GDR group, though I think Melenchon is still in the SOC group in the Senate. Apparently they're getting close to the PCF, but wants to take up the political space between the PS and PCF.

If it helps in categorizing me, I would've voted Bayrou first round and (reluctantly) Royal second round, and I'm currently becoming a fan of IMF Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn.  What party do I fit into best?

Likely MoDem, but I could see you voting for a Socialist candidate given that he comes from the (serious) moderate wing of the party.

I'd be tempted to think so to. You'd probably be a part of the Valois Radical faction, or maybe The Reformers (libertarians/classical liberals). You would be fine in the New Centre, too, though.
