The definition of southern can vary in every way depending on which southern state you're talking about. The idea of "the south" isn't necessarily monolithic.

You just won't find many Jewish blue dogs regardless of what region you're in.  The above opinions are pretty typical of Jews here in Memphis (Orthodox excepted).

Well, then I'm not sure if you and Ben would have much disagreement, depending on how broad you each define Southern Culture.  There are Southern Ohioan cities that fly the Confederate flag haha.

The context is clearly the defining variable.  Simply asking "Is this Southern" - makes me respond - Is it in the conventional definition of the South?  But if the question is in the context of culture - say food or accents or whatever - then you can probably assign a certain degree of Southerness.
