Folks, we are about to cross underneath 9 hours until the state of Vermont opens its polls at 5:00 am EST.

When do you plan on voting tomorrow, or have you already voted?

I voted via absentee.  It has become a habit for me since the last few elections.

Yeah, I don't understand why we let other states vote. Vermont is about as heartland, middle-of-the-road, God-fearing American as you can get.

In just over 27 hours, Obama will be declared president. Smiley

It varies by the part of the state. Select areas in New Hampshire will be opening their polls in just 4 hours.

Our polls open at 7:00 am CST in Oklahoma.  I'm going to leave my house at 6:30, and get to the church by 6:35.  I want to get in ahead of the biggest rush, though I still expect I'll have to wait in line tomorrow morning.  If the past 3 days of early voting are any indication, the poll workers are in for a busy, busy day.

I have a slew of vacation time to blow... so I took tomorrow and Wednesday off... I'll probably vote mid-day to avoid any lines.

Vermont should count for like 80 electoral votes imho

So you're saying that the fact that states like Wyoming and Vermont are already more important than states like California and Texas isn't sufficient?  Like, Vermont, with a population of 623908 gets 3 votes, while California, with a population of 36457549 gets only 55.  So Vermont already gets a vote per 207 thousand residents, whereas California gets a vote per 663 thousand residents.  I've heard lots of bitching and complaining about our electoral college system, most of which point out that smaller states, like Vermont or Wyoming, are over-represented, while larger states, like California and Texas, are under-represented.  But you're the first person, ever, that I've heard who wants our electoral college system even more skewed to the rural types than it already is.

Well, we get one vote per 426 thousand residents here in Iowa, which is slightly better than the national average, so I shouldn't complain.  I'm going to cast mine about five blocks from my house, sometime tomorrow.  Probably in the evening about 7:30 or 8:00, after I have had a few snifters of Remy Martin VSOP.

He was being sardonic, actually.  Which is sort of like kidding I suppose.

Anyway, I never miss a chance to point out that Vermont gets one vote per 207 thousand residents, whereas California gets one vote per 663 thousand residents.  And it really seemed like a very appropriate time to do so, don't you think?
