This kind of blow out would make sense with what is happening at the local level. Of the 6 Republican congressional districts, 3 are expected to flip Democratic, and a 4th is tossup. George "Worst President ever" Bush and John "Race baiting" McCain killed the NY Republican party.

The New York Republican party had been dead long before George Bush or John McCain emerged on the national scene.
