Brown calls for investigation into Osborne meeting...

After all, Liam Fox says he has no case to answer...

I don't know, he might not even have to, though maybe he will; this whole story is just so surreal. Maybe Autumn is the season for bizarre funding stories.

But I suppose that, no matter the outcome, he'll learn not to breach ettiquette again!

He won't resign and does not have to. This is a case of one man's word against anothers. No money was taken regardless of whether it was or was not offered. And remember people have stayed in office even when they took illegal donations (cough)

However I agree with what Al said about breaching etiquette. This is revenge for the Mandy thing and it should make politicians think twice about 'hospitality' Who am I kidding - politicians will never think twice about that Smiley

I don't see it happening any time soon; nor am I sure that the case has been adequately made such that he ought to resign.

I was going to post something on this but didn't quite understand it. Still, that'll teach him to mind his pints and quarts.

It seems to be blowing over and the BBC have had an 'oo er um' rushed explanation after a barrage of criticism of it's 'pushing' of the story (and the involvement of Robert Peston) As one poster said: "Perhaps in future you should also take into consideration the character of the person making the allegations."

Does anyone outside of medialand actually care?

Not especially, beyond mild amusement and or irritation.

So then Osbourne is answerable to the meeja rather than the people, eh? (Not that this is shocking or anything.)
