Mass suspension of 'wild' pupils

The entire graduating class at an exclusive Australian boys school has been suspended over "unacceptable" end-of-term antics.

Up to 100 of 250 Year 12 students at Xavier College, Melbourne, allegedly took part in the "muck-up day" trouble.

They ran through the school wearing only their school ties as G-strings, and set off fireworks at a nearby railway station, media reports say.

Classes have been cancelled until Wednesday, the scheduled final day.

*every* school in Australia does this. My (government) school muck-up day involved glad-wrpping every entrance to the school and toilet papering the local train station Cheesy

Private schools do tend to have slightly crazier stunts though. Scotch, also in Melbourne, and original inventor of soggy biscuit, was responsible for the genesis of two of the most memorable and copied stunts-diverting highway traffic onto school grounds and locking thousands of cars in; and leading a cow to the upper floor of a building which necessitated the use of a crane to remove.

Sometimes, stunts go horribly worng, however. One school in the western suburbs, public I think, decided that a chicken massacre would be worthwhile; a private school in the bush burnt every tree in the school grounds, killing possums.

Is it acceptable? Not really. But it is an institution and it will never fade completely.

"Muck Up Day" as we call it down here occurred at my school today. And its not a private school too Wink. The only notable thing about Muck Up Day at Northcote High was a procession of 30-40 male year 12 students, wearing white suits (one wore a Saddam mask!!), running through the entire school at lunchtime. Presumably running over the Merri Creek and causing havoc in Brunswick East. Though they did let off a flare or two. I shouldn't be telling you this shouldn't I?

Wait, was the OP trying to make the claim that Private Schools suck because of things like this?  If so, that is awefully stupid/ignorant.

Our "Muck-Up" day resulted in the collective suspension of the entire year and the cancellation of the Leaver's Service.

My 'Muck up Day' involved inflatable sheep. Not exactly painting the town.
