That was by far the best debate out of the three, and McCain acted like himself again.  Obama seemed uncomfortable.

CNN went 15-10 for Obama (with 5 calling it a tie), but it seemed like it may have been tainted by the questioner's wording.

First McCain got 10 votes, then the questioner first asked if everyone else was for Obama.  After someone protested, she then asked how many people thought Obama won.

(edit: The source was TV post-debate coverage on CNN--no hyperlink available as far as I know)

CNN poll
40% Democratic, 30% Republican, 30% Independent (or so she said, more indies)

Obama 58%
McCain 31%

Obama went from 63-35 favorable to 66-33

McCain went from 51-45 favorable to 49-49

CBS is apparently somewhat broader

Game over. The Republican hacks can spin all they want, but the American people decided that Obama won this debate when a marginal win for McCain wasn't going to cut it.

Note: CBS's poll is of undecided debate watchers, while CNN's is of all debate watchers

Off topic, but Hillary is showing up on Fox News for  Obama, which tells you she thinks it's over.

These flash polls consistently and nearly immediately shape the media analysis of these debates - even if McCain did do better than these flash polls indicate (which he probably did). Obama winning these polls means he's won the news cycle.

I really thought this was his debate, and I even think he may have won it.

I kinda agree. I would've said he flat out won if it wasn't for the little flustered mistakes, but even with them I thought it was very close, if not an eeked McCain victory. Needless to say, these numbers make sleeping easy tonight.

While I think McCains answers were better for this debate I think he might have hurt himself by how he conducted himself when not speaking. If you were watching the split  screen he would give Obama these really weird looks, blink uncontrolably and have looks of shock that were just odd. Then again that may have just been me.
