Maldivian presidential election (Runoff)

The first round for the first multiparty presidential election was yesterday. The Indies and MDP reported fraud etc.

The results were:

Maumoon Abdul Gayoom (DRP, inc) 40.33
Mohamed Nasheed (MDP) 24.9
Hassan Saeed (Ind) 16.66
Qasim Ibrahim (Republican) 15.24
Umar Naseer (Islamic) 1.39
Ibrahim Ismail (Social Liberal) 0.78

Saeed and Ismail have endorsed Nasheed, and the others are expected to follow suit.

Amusingly the candidates have running mates.

Yeah, yeah, down with dictatorship, etc.

But I think this is the first time I've seen running mates outside the US.
