Remember when David Duke ran in the general election in 1988?

Did he win any precincts?

I'm pretty sure he came in second (ahead of Dukakis) in the Claryville precinct close to where I live. At my high school they just loved this guy. (I think he sucked.)

Well, I don't know of any sites that have precinct results from 1988, hopefully Dave will eventually get them on this site.

Duke only got 0.05% of the vote nationwide....his best state was Louisiana (his home state) where he managed to get 1.14%. I doubt that he could have won any precincts, but I suppose it's possible in the Deep South.

I think Kentucky was somehow his second or third best state, thanks to the Campbell County suburbs alone.

Kentucky was Duke's 4th best state; he got 0.34% of the vote there.

However, it wasn't because of Campbell County...Duke only had 0.18% of the vote in Campbell; he got 52 votes in Campbell County.

His best county in Kentucky was Bell county, where he got 1.99%.

David Duke placed ahead of both Bush and Dukakis in one precint. His home precint in Louisiana. As far as the rest, I never heard of him being in contention, the rascist bastard (LOL).

The Populist Party of the 1980's and early 1990's was actualy quite successful for a fringe party.

In 1992 it's nominee Bo Gritz won over 3% of the vote in Utah, primarily because he was a mormon.

Their 1984 Presidential nominee,  Bob Richards, was an Olympic Athlete.

My undestanding is that he wasn't looking for votes, but rather for campaign money that was available for people who filed under certain circumstances.
