Obama - 55%
McCain - 39%

SurveyUSA interviewed 1,000 California adults 10/4/08 and 10/5/08. Of the adults, 879 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 670 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the 11/04/08 general election.

California has 55 Electoral College votes. John Kerry carried the state by 10 points in 2004; Al Gore carried the state by by 12 points in 2000. Early voting begins in California today, 10/6/08.

Republican 34% (39%): McCain 79% (82%); Obama 17% (16%)

Democrat 47% (44%): McCain 12% (11%); Obama 83% (87%)

Independent 17% (16%): McCain 36% (40%); Obama 52% (48%)

Conservative 27% (28%): McCain 81% (87%); Obama 16% (10%)

Moderate 40% (36%): McCain 33% (35%); Obama 60% (60%)

Liberal 21% (21%): McCain 7% (6%); Obama 91% (91%)

Maybe, too many Democrats; too few Republicans?
