Report rules out hate crime in incident, lists case closed

Whoever might have broken into Jerome Block Jr.'s home in La Puebla entered the front door using a key hidden under a mat, wrote a racial slur using a green crayon and left behind no apparent fingerprints after rifling through the Public Regulation Commission candidate's desk.

That's according to a state police report released Monday that listed the case as closed and said "no hate/bias" motivation was apparent.


A lil' background:

- The holder of the office that Block Jr. is running for is his dad Jerome Block Sr. so this is one of those ceremonious dynasty seats found in most small state elections and especially here in New Mexico.

- Block Jr. has no Republican opposition (he's a Democrat) and only a Green party candidate by the name of Richard Lass running against him.

- In addition to faking a hate crime incident to win sympathy, he was also arrested recently for urinating in a public place and resisting arrest.  And he also has chargers of illegal campaigning practices pending.

- He is favored to win the election easily.

     So he faked a hate crime to win support in an election that he was going to win anyway? Sounds like Nixon on steroids.

Fun part is that his antics have caused a few of the county Democratic Parties to go against the state and endorse Lass over him, which by state rule has thus qualified him for public financing.
