California would make a very viable country on its own.

UTAH!!!!!!! Where is Utah?

Texas loves itself so much they can become their own country too.

California sucks in general. They can leave. But they will NOT take the NW with them.

Personally I've always thought South Dakota should invade North Dakota and burn Fargo to the ground.

DC needs more size. I say make all the states with a Republican House delegation part of DC!

I voted California(and, if asked to vote on it, Californians would most certainly agree Smiley ), but I actually think Virginia should invade West Virginia. Tongue jk
Also, I'd like to see an independent Alaska, out of simpathy for the Alaskan Independence Party, and I think Hawaii should revert back to a territory.

From the US perspective I'd say throwing out Hawaii wouldn't be too big a loss.

I voted for Canada, since I was not aware that Canada was part of the union, and now that I am, I want out. Cheesy

California would make a very viable country on its own.

I would say so.  California has roughly the same population as Canada.

California could easily survive on it's own. It would have the sixth largest economy in the world if independent.

1) USA
2) Japan
3) Germany
4) UK
5) France
6) California
7) Italy
Cool Canada
9) China
10) India

Idaho. It would reduce French fry (sorry it should be freedom fries) consumption thusly lowering obesity, and would leave a nice vigilance zone in the middle of the Rockies.

All of you who're saying CA is taking this from the wrong perspective. it would be good for CA to be thrown out, but pretty bad for the US.

A few things about California I have to ask...

So they have the 6th largest economy. Would they still have that if they were not part of the US? I mean, like the port in Long Beach, would it be as big as it is if it weren't in the US? Wouldn't a port in WA or OR become bigger because they would still be part of the US? Wouldn't industries move to other parts of the US instead of California? Does CA have enough money to be its own country, would it seceding cause a bunch of companies and people to leave? Where do they get their water? Doesn't some of it come from rivers where the water comes from other states, so in the water-right SW wouldn't states like Nevada just keep their water and not give any to California?

Depends...would California join NAFTA? They'd obviously have to be careful about the water...
