SV has always seemed strongly invested in the possibilty of a Rossi victory.

It really depends on how McCain does.  If he does any better than Bush, I think Rossi.  If otherwise, Gregoire.

Rossi has been on the air unopposed for a while now, and some PACs have been running some pretty effective negative ads against Gregoire.

Gregoire's back up on the air as of a few days ago however, and she's also running negative spots on Rossi.

Is she? Rossi seems to have a commercial on for every break... What has Gregoire been doing with all her campaign money!

What has Gregoire been doing with all her campaign money!

Financing a ridiculously overpaid and largely incompetent staff.

The Gregoire campaign has a very, very low reputation within Democratic circles.

They purposely hired people to do their field work with no prior campaign experience and knowledge. That way they could be more easily controlled and micromanaged by their bosses. Turns out that's a sh**ty strategy. Who knew!

Hopefully Rossi wins and then Gregoire defeats him in 2012 and then Rossi finishes out his second term in 2016.  Making it 16 glorious years Gregoire and Rossi in Washington.

If Gregoire won in 2012, how would Rossi finish his second term in 2016?  Would that not be the same term?

Umm.... the republican secretary of state was in charge of the recounts and such. He did a great job and most people here in Washington, Republicans, Democrats and Independents think that it was handled well. At least better than Florida in 2000.

I'm simply quoting Naso. I didn't want it to seem like I agreed with his comments. That being said, I remember those recounts in 2004 and it didn't seem to go "well" but whatever.

We'll never know who won the 2004 Gubernatorial election. Our election procedures aren't exact enough to determine a winner when the margins are that small. Fortunately most Republicans within the state have come to accept that, and these days the only Republicans I really hear complain about it are those who don't live in the state and generally don't know what they're talking about.

Anyways, a Rossi victory this year would certainly be terrible, but nothing bad would necessarily happen. It's just that nothing will happen. The Democrats have large enough majorities in the Legislature to stop any of the crazy things that Rossi wants to do, and strategically the Republicans just don't know how to get things done in the Legislature even if they did get a larger caucus.

However, I suppose nothing happening is better than bad things happening.

Citing Sam Reed as a Republican is the same as citing Zell Miller as a Democrat.

It's a sad day when having honor and dignity warrants you being ostracized by your own party.

This is true. If the democrats win any more state house or senate seats they may even be able to override Rossi as governor. But still with Gregoire things would move so much more smoothly and I wouldn't have to go to bed at night knowing that Rossi is my governor.

My biggest concern State Supreme Court Justice Gerry Alexander.  He turns 75 in 2011 which means that he will have to step down due to the age limitation under state law.  If Rossi wins, he will appoint Alexander's successor and my guess is that BIAW hack John Groen.  I will vomit if he gets on the Court.

Rossi offers no specifics, just a terrible, divorced from reality transportation plan which seriously underestimates costs and has been lambasted across the state.  He continually offers vague promises about cutting from the general fund without saying specifically what he plans to cut.  He deflects these questions by saying that he doesn't have access to the information that Gov. Gregoire has.

As Mike Naso said...

"I think Greger is...a bitch. I think she stole that election..."

I really hope Rossi wins.

The Republicans are not in any position to be pointing fingers about stolen elections.
