And Phil, with your own refusal to pay any taxes whatsoever, I think it's awfully hypocritical of you to deny it to others.

...What? When did I say that? I said if John Kerry gets elected, for the simple reason that I will not tolerate that kind of a system.

Ok.  So if John Kerry gets elected and you refuse to put anything into the system, and are in fact, a drain (you use police, roads, post office, etc.), you would be doing the exact same thing those people on welfare are doing.

If FillUp wants to start his own country, then we might as well let him. That way he won't be screwing up American elections anymore.

Those services aren't all funded by the income tax.

I'd gladly pay for those, but since some people don't like the Constitution, oh well

The post office is, and so are many other services that you use every single day.  You would be a drain just like those on welfare that you so criticize.

I can't partially pay my taxes. If Kerry gets elected, I'll be forced to not pay any.

And I don't need to use the post office, but I would if I needed to.

So..explain to me how you won't be the exact equivilent of someone on welfare: a drain on society.

I'll be doing productive work.

If society doesn't like that I'm not going to pay for unconstitutional program after unconstitutional program, I don't really give a damn. That's not the same as wanting to live off someone else without doing WORK.

The common conservative explanation of poverty is that the poor are poor because they are lazy.
The reality is that poor are poor because they were born into poverty.
The majority of wealty people are wealthy because the were born wealty.

That's the unpleasant reality.

Actually, 90% of wealthy people earned their wealth, while only 10% (like Ted Kennedy, for example) inherited it.

Poor people become rich all the time in this country.

The conservatives know this, but they just don't care.

This poll is so ridiculous, I'm not even going to say which way I voted.

Well, since willfully not paying your taxes is a felony, you may well be soon relieved of the burden of voting.   After going through several nusances like a trial and sentencing (due to those namby pamby liberal ideas like due process and the such), you can retire to a nice medum security prison where all your needs will be taken care of a la socialism.  Problem solved.  Enjoy your stay.

I see no reason why the poor should no longer be treated as citizens. I furthermore never understood this hatred of welfare recipients. People on Social Security are much more expensive. I guess it just shows what cheap bastards many Americans are at heart.

Yes, they should be able to vote. They're still citizens and human beings.

Of course they should be allowed to vote.  This is class discrimination.
I have also heard some people say that homeowners/property owners should have their vote count more. Another pure bull$hit idea.  You are a citizen-not the product of your capital.  You shouldn't have your vote taken away because you are poor- what should be done is to make sure that those few who abuse the system are sticken from welfare rolls and forced to work.

Okay, that makes sense I guess. I just hate snobs who blame society for all their problems, don't and don't want to do any work, and then vote for someone who'll provide more government services.

I'm also obviously against the more revenue, more votes idea. But I'm also against class warfare altogether.

Those people you so fault, Philip, are merely voting in their self-interest, something lower class social conservatives stopped doing a long time ago. Perhaps that's why they're losing their jobs. They're more concerned about whether same-sex marriage and abortion are illegal than they are in being able to meet their most basic needs. From a Darwinian perspective, they're not terribly shrewd.

I would like to see something like this instituted, simply because I have a twisted sense of humour.

In all seriousness though, I think that people on welfare voting for Democrats is like congressmen voting for pay increases. What are you going to do?

Lower class conservatives will be middle class conservatives in a couple years.

And yes, voting to steal money might be in their interest.

Same sex marriage is not illegal. It just doesn't exist.

Making murder illegal again matters more than stealing money.

Very clever, Philip. Almost as funny as that one about the chicken crossing the road.

I'm sorry, but I don't work well with vague sentences, poor syntax, and an utter ignorance of contemporary legal thought.
