You mean all of those rich CEOs getting corporate welfare won't be able to vote? That'd be awful.

Why should being on welfare stop you from voting? That is not only a violation of the constitution, but it's just stupid.

Not all people on welfare are there by choice, remember.

If you're dependent on government it must not be dependent on you.

It's completely constitutional.

I forgot to say "no dumbasses allowed" in my opening message. Sorry.

If you did that, you wouldn't be able to post in your own thread.

This one has a history - poll taxes, 'literacy tests' all sorts of tricks the old rural south used to prevent blacks from voting.   Of course, there are still a few people backwards enough to want to return to our original formula - where only white male landowners could vote, and slaveowners got 3/5 of a vote per slave.

Don't get me wrong here, I support your right to make a public fool of yourself - you demonstrate quite well how though we have come far, bigoty is still very much alive.

What's your political party's symbol again?

Yes, only white male landowners. Except also everyone else over the age of 18 unless you're living at the expense of government.

Can we get rid of the corporate welfare?

Phillip you are cruel.  Personally on the right to vote issue I know that I am more liberal than most and I will get attacked for this position.  I think that drug laws are specifically taking away the votes of African Americans.  It is the modern version of poll taxes etc.  Some states do not let former felons vote, some Like Florida, make it extremely difficult.  Everybody is on one form of Welfare or other from the government.  Their are subsidies everywhere.  The roads you drive.  The internet.

I can't believe your utter contempt of those with different politcal beliefs than yours.  You ask an open question and than you insult the first person to respond to you.

I believe what your referring to is a salary, but no, if corporations honestly want to give out welfare, that's okay with me.

The guy who responded to me was being what a certain political party's symbol is.

No one's vote is being taken away on the basis of their being black. If black people happen to not be able to vote because of some other law, I'm not exactly worried about it.

Anyway, this is welfare. If you live off the works of other people, you don't deserve any say in what those people do.

Well, since everyone lives at least partially at the expense of government, we'd have to have a dictatorship then.

You seem to be trolling or not have read the constitution. Or both.

If you're arguing that if you don't put money into the system, you shouldn't be allowed to vote, that violates the 24th ammendment:

Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax.

And Phil, with your own refusal to pay any taxes whatsoever, I think it's awfully hypocritical of you to deny it to others.

Show me the part of the Constitution that says no one can be denied a vote on the basis of his being on welfare.

...What? When did I say that? I said if John Kerry gets elected, for the simple reason that I will not tolerate that kind of a system.

You posted a stupid question and got the sort of answer it deserved.

You've got to be the most immature poster on this board.

How does it not make sense to deny people on welfare the right to vote? I seriously do not see anything insensitive or unreasonable about this...

Obviously they shouldn't be denied the right to vote for LIFE, just while they're on welfare.

I think you are mistaken, the Democratic party is the party of inclusion.

Show me the part of the Constitution that says no one can be denied a vote on the basis of his being on welfare.

It's called due process.

Live with it, or move to a country like North Korea where you'd be happier because people can't vote.
