How will it be gone? Gov Lief's signature is going to be in every supermarket aisle in America next week.

And McCain is the one causing news by threatening to sue.

The whole "let's spread rumors" aspect.  It's gone because these other rumors are now so devalued they are worthless.  Too many people cried "Wolf!"

(This is really the first time I've heard her speak, so I don't have anything to compare it to.)

Not a bad speaker.  Good delivery and looks comfortable in front of a huge crowd.  Good way of confronting the conversation regarding her son Trig (special needs children) and Briston (unwed mothers/teen pregnancies).  Good plug on the Union ties as well.  Great counter on the claim that she has no experience (a Mayor ... "it's like a community organizer except that you have actual responsibilities.")  It will most likely be front page material tomorrow.  Also a good jab at the media, showing she's not intimidated by their coverage.  I'm not sure, but I think the veto lines were more directed towards to Bush than Congress, but I might be wrong.  She also showed a good understanding of global issues (energy security) and the economy.  Great character portrait of McCain at the end, especially telling the story of the other POW.  Not sure, but I think she was getting a bit emotional.

However, like Rudy's, the speech was too long.

I will have to say, I'm impressed.  She did a very good job and should put aside concerns that she's not ready for the big leage.  I'm not sure how much of the speech she wrote herself (including the zingers), but the speech was good and she delivered it well.  I give her an A- on both presentation and content, though there were a lot of details on "how" than what many others have provided (even in the DNC speeches).

Briston? Its Bristol you fail. F

My favorite part of the speech wasn't anything Palin said or did, it was those few brief moments where Palin's daughter licked her fingers and used it to brush down Trig's hair.

That was as cute as Obama children.  Also, when Todd waived Trig's hand.

B

The speech was well-delivered, but she came off as mean-spirited. The Republicans will love it, but I think independents and Hillary dems might be turned off. No "Sweet Sarah" here. Joe Biden won't have to hold back in the debate, that's for sure.

Dumb c*nt, that's all I will say

She rambled on with a bunch of half truths and GOP applause lines, which make me want to gag at this point.  "Well a mayor is like a community organizer except that I have responsibilities!"  Heh, ripping on a job Obama went to do after graduating LAW SCHOOL.  Real classy.

F for substance

C for delivery

B in it's ability to rally the GOP.... look at the people on this board... they act like this was the stuff of legends.  Get over it ladies... it will never be thought of past this week.

She basically said Barack Obama hates America.  He wants America to be defeated in Iraq.

She said only one man in this race ever fought for us.  She's right.  What's amazing is that when we said the same thing about our guy in 2004, the other side succeeded in convincing America he not only didn't fight for us...he lied about it and really fought against us.

She just plain lied about her record on the bridge.  She did not oppose it until it was politically unpopular.

She scored big points with me on the plane and chef.  I think that kind of cost cutting is always a welcome thing and we need a lot more of it.

It was a brilliant move to bring the kids out on stage.  Beautiful, sweet baby -- she is obviously a good mom...you can see it in her kids' eyes.  I also liked watching Mac interact with them.  He was having fun and that's always reassuring.

As a purely political attack speech, I give it an A+.  Better than any speech I have heard this campaign season in either party. And infinitely better than any attack speech from Biden or Obama.

As for being a speech with the best interests of the country at heart, what can I say?  I am an arch liberal...she is an arch conservative.  So naturally, I can't give it anything more than a D.

Bottom line?  I stand by my previous assertion -- barring a major misstep or scandal, my party has once again lost the election.

You compliment the Republican Party and their representatives more than many of the Republicans here.

I give credit where it is due, my friend.

We Democrats had better wake up.  We SUCK at politics.  We have been playing catchup ever since the advent of talk radio and Republicans just get better and better and better at it.

Absolutely correct. Democrats govern better while republican campaign better.

No - Democrats, being the party of big government, don't govern better when they win, they just govern more when they win.

"Sweet Sarah Palin" is still there.  It is the ideal defensive.  If you push too lightly, you are condescending and arrogant.  If you push too hard, you're a "mean Democrat attacking Sweet Sarah Palin."  It is a nasty combination  (and you guys should date more).

She did not come off as "sweet" in this speech JJ. And most americans are judging her by this. Of course democrats have to be careful around her because she is a woman, but she is definitely attackable after her incessant lying/misdirection today.
