Bush still has a considerable amount of power despite low approval ratings. I'm looking forward to his gracing of the stage. I'm not sure why they canned Giuliani for Thompson of all people.

You mean you're looking forward to his gracing of the TV screen?

Is anyone even at this convention? It seems so empty and boring. When there is applause, it sounds like maybe five people are clapping.

Hm, I was going to say that, but didn't want to sound like a hack.

It's just the people who couldn't get tickets for INVESCO Field or Ron Paul's "Rally for the Republic".

Well, I can say it as a Republican.  Wink

I will always say that the Republicans aren't entertainment people. Our conventions seem to be bland most of the time (with 2004 as an exception). It bothers me sometimes but, in the end, we know that the entertainment isn't what this process should be about.

CNN just had a "breaking news" bit about the protesters. I missed most of it though.

Only two speeches are important, Palin and McCain.

2004s RNC wasn't boring at all. We don't do all that dancing and such that the Democrats like to do. Bush should be coming up, which should be a bit entertaining.

Yeah, 2004's convention was very well put together, so I know the Republicans can do it.

Yeah, the Star Tribune is giving equal coverage to the protests.  The protests got almost all the coverage yesterday because of the muted convention events.

The protests should get worse tomorrow since Paul's people won't be at his convention any longer.

It sounds like there's a few guys just screaming... the applause seems louder than at the DNC....

listening to the nasty hick guy "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAHHH" on CNN is getting annoying.

I've always loved Laura Bush. She's about the only thing I'll miss from this presidency.

I wonder if Palin has a higher approval than McCain there... probably so.

Is anyone watching (CNN) and hearing some guy yelling "YEAHHHHH!!!!" in a really deep and loud voice every time there's a cheer?

Where I'm at the TV's silent with closed captioning, so I'm not getting the full effect.  I just saw George and Barbara Bush looking every one of their nearly 170 combined years.

Laura Bush just introduced her husband.  It looked like the audience was applauding, but I can't tell.

President George W. Bush is talking about how Gustaf wasn't as damaging as anticipated, and how we're praying for the Gulf Coast...oh, looked away from the closed captioning for a second, he's talking about McCain...or is he talking about his father?  This is no way to watch a speech.
