Post commentary on tonight's RNC festivities here.  Lineup of speakers:

http://thepage.time.com/2008/09/02/tuesday-gop-convention-schedule-pending/

–Call to order: 7:40 pm ET

–Rep. Boehner

–Sen. Coleman

–Laura Bush

–President Bush (via satellite)

–Fred Thompson

–Sen. Lieberman

As I understand it, Bush will start speaking at something like 9:30 Eastern, and both Thompson and Lieberman will speak in the 10pm hour.

So Lieberman is the headliner? lol.

Well, I guess it's better than F. Thompson.

I guess in that case I'll watch from 9:30 to 10:30.  An hour of Bush, Thompson, and Lieberman sounds like it might raise my blood pressure to fatal levels, but that's where anything newsworthy will be.

What a short lineup.

You don't wanna hear John Boehner's hoarse, raspy, "GIIIMMEEE A CIGARETTE" voice?

Does anyone know when Giuliani and Lingle are speaking?  Those are two speeches I'm looking forward to.

His campaigning was weak (at best) but I think many find his unique accent quite entertaining.

Anyone know when my hero Rudy will speak? I know he got canned tonight in favor of Lieberman and F. Thompson, but I was wondering if he was rescheduled.

Well, as others have said, first nights often suck (and this is essentially their first night now).

I don't know; Michelle Obama was pretty good.

I'm not sure what the Republicans expected though. Lieberman and Thompson are horrible and boring, and Bush, who it at least a little exciting, is universally hated.

I wonder what Bush's approval rating is among the delegates at the Convention?

Bush still has a considerable amount of power despite low approval ratings. I'm looking forward to his gracing of the stage. I'm not sure why they canned Giuliani for Thompson of all people.

80% or more, I'd think.

Why is the Arizona Superintendent speaking? Huh

I haven't been watching yet.  How's it going?

And, people who are putting it down...wait until after the headliner to bash a convention night.

Of course, Joe Lieberman is a horrible orator, so it probably will be a weak night, but I'll wait until after Joe's speech to make that judgment.

The current speaker is a Democratic Hispanic businessman.  I notice that, despite the cut-away to a zoomed shot on a black man's face, there isn't too much diversity in this audience, hah.
