"POW doesn't qualify you to be President, but it shows character."  Fred says "My friends," the new GOP catchphrase.  He's been to Iraq 8 times.  Unintimidated by polls.  Iraq went badly, people lost confidence, John McCain called for more troops.

Are you done yet?

Alright, this is pretty terrible, to me at least.
I disagree. Thompson may be a terrible campaigner, but he's an amazing storyteller.

"It's not my job tonight to explain McCain's policies or anything; it's my job to spout some vague generalities at you, after criticizing the Obama campaign endlessly for doing the same."

I thought it was a good speech, but of course his talk on the issues is where I got completely turned off.

Music from the 50s. McCain probably listened to this as a stripper-banging youth.

Wow, Fred is giving a pretty good speech. He isn't like the old bore we saw in the primary season.

outstanding.  Best RNC speech I've seen yet.  I'm not a Thompson fan, and said all sorts of nasty things of him during the primaries, but this speech was fantastic.  Some cheap, but clever, shots directed at Obama and more generally toward all currently-serving Democrats.  Some good laugh lines.  A moving biography of John McCain.  And a ringing endorsement.

Nevermind. I switched over to ABC. They are on a delay. I was going nuts, thinking that Fred totally lost it.

Some people applauded for Thompson's speech without him asking for a round of applause?
