And his name is Rick Santorum - http://www.politickerpa.com/alexroarty/1584/reversal-santorum-now-enthusiastically-backs-mccain

These attacks on Palin have only made us energized. Santorum says he's "excited" about the ticket.

I get "excited" about Palin, too.

Don't quite get what that has to do with anything. Santorum never has and never will dictate how I vote. I have disagreed with him a few times in terms of his endorsement.

If your point was that Santorum only has "influence" over one voter, you're sadly mistaken.

You mean McCain's harshest Republican critics, Sarah Palin was designed to excite the extreme right-wing.

Wait...I thought the "extreme right wing" was supposed to hate her now because she's apparently a "bad mother."

Roll Eyes

Yes, because Pressler has as much of a say among the base as Santorum.

Remember all the cries about McCain not doing well enough among conservative critics? Remember all the talk about social conservatives being turned off because Palin is a "bad mother?"

Are you claiming Santorum has any sway on the base on this one? What he said now makes him simply in agreement with every other social conservative leader who owns or was handed a microphone in the last few days, and if he'd held out, no one would have noticed or cared. If he'd criticized Palin, it would have been inexplicable and he would have been squashed like a bug.

actually - no I don't.  I have only heard this argument from conservatives claiming that it won't happen.

Other conservative commentators have spoken out with concern and weren't thrilled about the Palin pick.

All I'm saying is that this is proof that you're only exciting us.

I agree 100% outside of the "base".  Santorum is a favorite of the base and they do listen to what he hast to say.

If attacks energize you, you should put a picture of George W. Bush on the McCain-Palin campaign signs.  The Republican base would have enough attacks heading toward it to become a viable form of alternative energy.

Rick Santorum, a former senator who lost reelection by over 17% and was one of the few senators who had a negative approval rating when he was forced out of office, endorses McCain/Palin. Some endorsement. I doubt McCain will ask him to campaign on his behalf.

In all seriousness, Santorum is just trying to get back into the political mix.

Well then this is a transparent attempt at strengthening his position regardless of how he really feels about McCain.
