« edited: August 31, 2008, 12:21:16 AM by Mr. Moderate, President »

As some of you may no doubt be aware, there was a bit of controversy regarding the August 2008 elections.

My administration was notified by two separate Atlasians that there was suspicion regarding the vote cast by Cookies and Milk, specifically that the vote was cast immediately after Xahar had logged off.

I referred the matter to the Attorney General, who conducted an investigation in accordance with Atlasian law.  The investigation indeed revealed that both Xahar and Cookies and Milk posted from the same computer within minutes of each other, and further revealed that there were a number of occasions on which the two posted from the same IP address in a short time period.

The investigation, however, similarly revealed that there were a number of times in which Cookies and Milk posted from unique IPs.  As such, it is the opinion of the administration that there is not sufficient evidence to show that Cookies and Milk and Xahar are the same person, rather than friends, as Xahar has asserted.

The Attorney General has suggested that the administration not pursue prosecution of this issue, and I concur.  To that end, this administration will not be pursuing criminal action against any of the parties involved.

It is hereby requested that the Secretary of Forum Affairs officially certify the results of the August 2008 Midterm Federal elections.

I only do wish the American judicial system worked this well.

Are you telling me that Xahar-the-Reformer is really just an annoying hypocritical d-bag?! I'm shocked!

Who the hell is Cookies and Milk, anyway? This smells like another lame attempt at TomatoSouping.

IP checks in the American judicial system would be yelled at as privacy violations.

Just to be clear, the proper warrants were obtained from the courts before the investigation took place.

Exactly what I guessed this was about - and what the facts would turn out to be.

Of course, this doesn't *prove* that Xahar isn't voting with Cookie's account... just that Cookie exists and also uses the account. Tongue

Kind of interesting considering Cookies and Milk cast the deciding vote in the Southeast Lt. Gov. election.  I'm not too worried as SPC hasn't been active and didn't even vote for himself, but it does show why maybe Xahar does not feel the need to actually join the Southeast.

Explains his inactivity. When you invite a real-life friend onto the forum, they're always too active or never active enough, I've noticed. Wink

As far as I'm aware, Milk & Cookies never held office. Let alone was reelected.

Anyways, that's his davegiven right. And Friz' davegiven right.
But people shouldn't be harebrained enough to elect and reelect him. Smiley

It really had less to do with people being harebrained & more to do with the power of the JCP political machine. Wink

Friz's opponent was Xahar. When he had a credible opponent he lost. 'Nuff said.

Even with a credible opponent, he made it into a runoff. Without the party machine behind him, he would've lost 1-7, not tied 4-4 & lost 3-5 in a runoff. You should take credit for your own party's discipline. Smiley

That's true actually. He would have met the fate of Naso's cooling off bill.

Indeed. Bgwah pointed out that Friz lost when he had to face a stronger opponent. I pointed out that even then, he lost in a runoff.

Yes, you got to a run-off. And before it was over you revealed your true nature and lost in a landslide.
