I can't believe that California will flip.  Also, remember, Biden is on the ticket.

McCain winning by 10 pts is a landslide of epic proportion, especially considering the states Obama still wins are big states.  I say the map looks like this:

A 10 point victory is huge.  Massachusetts tend to poll closer than state like NY, CA, and RI

In theory couldn't either candidate win by that much and not flip many states? Meaning, heavy turnout across the board?

Obama would have a much easier time doing that with results like this:

NY: 62-37, CA: 59-40, IL: 64-34

Its not that easy for McCain because the big states he could win without a huge majority (OH, FL, TX) won't be won by big enough margins

What demographics?  The fact the state is racist or the fact that they cast their votes at the DNC half and half for Clinton and Obama

What the hell? If there are an racist parts of the state it is the Irish, working class parts of Boston and maybe parts of Worcester. Even if you take away lots of working class vote away from obama in a 54-45 election, which would probably the group that would go away from him the most. The Yuppie/White Collar Liberals would still vote for him in big margins still giving the state to him.
