Regardless of whether he were ignorant, political allegiance would cause me to vote 'no', but in fact I have noticed no particular sign of ignorance on his part.  Certainly he is MUCH better informed than the forum average, and regarding american politics certainly better informed than myself.  The forum would be more less interesting without him.
