Chances that FL-16 goes Republican if Harrell wins?
Likely very high. She's a moderate so she'll draw many independents.

How many independents are there in that CD?  Two or three?
84,704.

It's a joke.  This CD is known for being overwhelmingly partisan.  One of the reasons why Mahoney's in such danger.

Looks like to me, also, that most of what's left to count is in Palm Beach County - how should that go?

Yay. Just got back from voting. They also put 4 ballot measures in with the primaries.

If this district was so partisan, Foley would not have won 68% here in 2004.

Probably Rooney's way. He lives in Tequesta (although note he's a carpetbagger). Valeche is a Palm Beach Gardens councilman; he may get a bump.

Ya, it's over with.  Rooney should win by about 1,000 votes or so.

What are your thoughts on Young v Parnell? I've actually had the suspicion for a little while that Young will manage to pull it off, but maybe Parnell has indeed gotten the press and support he needs. Young is not nearly so unpopular as Murkowski was, nor Parnell as compelling as Palin. I'll know in the morning, I guess. Stevens v Jokes is not remotely interesting, and Rooney v Harrell is over in Florida.

Alaska has a nasty habit of ditching their incumbents in primaries it seems. You can't judge primary challengers there like you do in other states.

The turnout in Palm Beach seems incredibly anemic, and the CD is in the more GOP part of the county. What is up with that?

53% for Keller should be a clear warning about his vulnerability. Fortunately for him, Democrats nominated the free-spending trial lawyer over the slightly more electable Democrat.

It'll be interesting to see how the D.C. chattering class responds to this result. Will it be perceived as a grave sign of vulnerability (like Don Sherwood's narrow '06 primary win), or an indication of discontent among members of his base (which will subside by election day)?

Grayson's had some pretty decent ads up, I think he's an OK candidate. The race still isn't in my top 20 though.

That portion still has a good Democratic lean to it.  Palm Beach and St. Lucie are the Democratic counties in the district and everything else is Republican.

Too bad Alaska is so far away resulting in them closing so late, I probably won't find out the winners until the movie I'm seeing at midnight ends. Oh well, I'll get early results.

Polls have now closed in Alaska (except parts of the Aleutian Islands).

It will take a while for the dogs to deliver the ballots though.

Do they ever get held up by grizzlies?

Anchorage probably reports first then. I'm guessing Parnell will be stronger there, Young should be stronger in the Bush.

Now that's a way to rig an election! Ambush the ballot collectors with grizzly bears.

No votes being recorded on the state website. Come on, people! The polls have been closed for fifteen minutes now.  Tongue

I really think Parnell has a decent shot at knocking off Young, and I'm not just saying that cause I voted for the Lt. Governor. Tongue

The site says results will come in at 9pm local, which is in about half an hour ...
